With the weather getting hot during summers, it is necessary that we adopt ways to stay cool and refreshed. Energy crunch is quite a common phenomenon that happens with most of us during these warmer months. How to stay cool is something we ask ourselves every year, but at the same time, we just ask and find nothing.
Sheela Seharawat, acclaimed and renowned dietician and founder of Diet Clinic has to stay that staying refreshed and healthy in summers requires more than just eating right. It is important that we listen to our body. Try and implement changes as our body responds to the changes in weather. There are a lot of things that needed to be taken care of in summers – our skin, our stomach, dehydration and a lot more.
This summer enjoy a refreshing and healthy living with these natural and easy health care tips from the best dietitian in India:
Drink and drink a lot of water. Drinking water is important for survival, but never more than it is during the summers when we lose a substantial quantity of it from our body through sweat and heat. Carry a bottle of water wherever you go and just keep sipping. Nothing is more refreshing and cool in summers than drinking clean and cool water. Along with being refreshing, it is delicious and healthy. It helps cooling down by regulating the body temperature and keeps clean from inside.
Sunburn and tan are some of the common problems we all face in summers. It is highly recommended to apply some sunscreen – a minimum of 15 sun protection factor (SPF) and a maximum of 30 SPF before exposing the skin to the sun. Use more of natural and naturally derived products to stay refreshed and burn free.
Nature has everything balanced for us. If it gives us the scorching sun and blazing temperatures, it also counters it by providing us with cooling foods to counter the effects. It is just that we need to identify these foods and make it a practice to enjoy the freshness of these foods in summers. Watermelon, oranges, berries, mangoes, cucumber and celery are classic examples of some of these foods.
Activities are must to keep you fit and moving in all seasons, but when it is summers, you need something that can not only help stay fit but refreshed also like swimming. There is nothing like taking a dip in the cool pool water in summers. And the best part, you don’t even notice that you are enjoying the cool water and exercising your muscles too.
As the temperatures rise, our body needs to work hard to stay cool. Hence, it is always better to keep it away from the heat as much as possible. Avoid moving out during the day and particularly during the afternoon when the sun is at its peak performance. Try and schedule all your outdoor activities during the cooler time of the day.
Always try to stay in air-conditioned areas during hot summer months as much as possible. It has also been discovered that spending more time in properly ventilated or air-conditioned places decrease the risk of heat-related diseases.
Heat-related problems can range from slight discomfort all the way to threatening medical conditions. So the summer heat is particularly difficult and potentially dangerous. We need to save our self from this weather by staying hydrated and cool. Staying refreshed at all times during summers should be your prime motive in summers.
